The Three Trees at Spioenkop is a 4 Star rated -  child friendly establishment that is set against the magnificent backdrop of the Drakensberg mountains, overlooking the secluded Mfazimnyama Valley of the Spioenkop Game Reserve and in the lee of the famous hill, Spioenkop.

Spectacular scenery, locally grown food, exquisite linen and superb hosts make the lodge the ideal environment in which to escape and unwind. This intimate luxury lodge is owner-managed by Simon & Cheryl whose passion for Africa fills every corner. You are welcomed into their home, and invited to experience the warm hospitality in their family run lodge.

Anglo Boer War Battlefield Tours, horse trails, hiking, nature walks, guided bush walks (tracking white rhino), Drakensberg mountain hiking, birding & mountain biking are some of the activities on offer. Our on-site Battlefield Guide, is Zululand born Omri Nene, a French-speaking UKZN Bachelor of Arts graduate. Omri unravels the gripping events of the Anglo Boer War that dominate in this area.

The lodge consists of 6 standard luxury twin suites. There is also a 2-bedroomed family suite, which is situated in close proximity to the main dining facility and in the opposite direction to the other guest suites. It has a master bedroom en-suite, a children’s room with a separate toilet and a small kitchenette.

A buffet style breakfast and lunch is served either outside on the viewing deck or on the breezy verandah. Dinners are a set menu with 3 homely farm-style courses followed by port or cognac in front of the fireplace or out under the stars.

From Durban or Johannesburg - Take the R616 (exit 230) off the N3 towards Bergville. From Free State take the R74 (Oliviershoek Pass) to Bergville. After 19km turn left onto the D564 (Rangeworthy Cemetry).After 8km on this gravel road you will reach Three Trees. NOTE: this is a good gravel road and 4×4 vehicles are not necessary. Do not take any of the roads marked Spioenkop or Spioenkop Nature Reserve.
