Tia Ghee Tented Camp
Less than one hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth and even less from Jeffrey’s Bay, a short way from the village of Patensie, there lies a tranquil bush camp in thick indigenous forest offering tented accommodation - Tia Ghee.
Tia Ghee is a child friendly and presently there are seven tents sleeping two persons each and two family tents which can normally sleep four or five. Additional beds or small tents for children can also be arranged, if requested.
This is the place to come if you enjoy peace and tranquillity and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With no cell phone coverage, you can’t be disturbed by your phone or anyone else’s.
Tia Ghee offers accommodation in tents spaced out for privacy in the forest along the course of the stream. Each tent stands in its own clearing on a permanent wooden deck. There are comfortable beds and all bedding and towels are provided.
There are bedside electric lights for convenience, but otherwise lighting in the camp after dark is provided by lanterns and oil lamps to enhance the fairy tale atmosphere. Each tent has a wooden deck with an awning and chairs for sitting outside.
There are hot showers and flush toilets in the ablution facilities and the family tents have their own private facilities. For something different, a few hammocks are slung between trees around the camp.
Prices include breakfast and dinner served in the lapa area. Light lunches are also available on request.

Take the R331 from Hankey, go through Patensie and 9 kms past Patensie turn right at the small “Tia Ghee” sign. Follow the track for just under 3½ kms to the reception. There are signs where necessary.
